1. Overview
RentSeekr is an Australian-focused technology platform for people seeking residential rentals and people offering them. In this policy, “RentSeekr”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the legal entity that operates the RentSeekr platform.
We aim to handle personal information openly and carefully. This policy is intended to describe our current information-handling practices and to support compliance with applicable Australian privacy law, including the Australian Privacy Principles where they apply.
2. Information we collect
We collect information that is reasonably necessary to provide and improve RentSeekr, protect users and meet legal obligations. The information we collect depends on how you use the platform.
Account and profile information
- name, email address, phone number and account role;
- login, account-verification and security information; and
- information you choose to add to your profile or account settings.
Rental activity and content
- property, room and listing information supplied by rental providers;
- saved listings, enquiries, messages and inspection or application information you submit; and
- documents or other content you choose to upload when those features are made available.
Savings calculator information
- completed and incomplete calculator answers, including rental structure, scheduled rent, vacancy allowance, management approach and provider-cost inputs;
- saved assumptions, calculation versions, generated estimates, progress, activity and completion status; and
- an email address only if you choose to associate one with an estimate. The calculator does not require email, verify it, create an account or currently send a report email.
The calculator creates a saved attempt when you select “Start estimate”. A private opaque session token controls active public access; Save & exit can issue an expiring, one-time resume capability that is invalidated when exchanged. Authorised RentSeekr employees may review completed and incomplete attempts for support, service operation and product improvement. Revealing contact details requires a separate employee permission and MFA-verified session.
Technical and support information
- information generated when you use the service, such as device, browser, log and security information; and
- support requests, feedback and records of communications with us.
We generally collect information directly from you. We may also receive information from another user where it is relevant to a rental interaction, or from a service provider that helps us operate RentSeekr.
3. How we use information
We may use personal information to:
- create, verify, secure and administer accounts;
- provide property discovery, saved-listing, enquiry and other rental-platform features;
- save, resume, calculate and display savings-calculator attempts, diagnose issues and understand completion and drop-off patterns;
- enable relevant communications between people using RentSeekr;
- respond to support requests, improve the product and understand service performance;
- detect, investigate and prevent fraud, misuse, security incidents and breaches of our terms; and
- comply with legal obligations, enforce rights and resolve disputes.
Providing an email for a calculator estimate is not consent to marketing. We do not sell personal information. We will only use or disclose information for a purpose you would reasonably expect, for a purpose you consent to, or where otherwise permitted or required by law.
5. Security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Measures may include access controls, authentication, encryption in transit, monitoring and supplier safeguards. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
We retain information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, to meet legal or accounting obligations, resolve disputes or enforce agreements. When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it, unless applicable law permits or requires continued retention.
6. Access and correction
You may be able to access and update some account information through RentSeekr. You may also request access to, or correction of, personal information we hold about you by contacting our privacy contact. We may need to verify your identity and, in limited circumstances permitted by law, may refuse a request or charge a reasonable fee for providing access. If we do, we will explain why.
7. Privacy complaints and contact
If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, please contact our privacy contact with enough detail for us to investigate. We will acknowledge the complaint, review it and respond within a reasonable period. If you are not satisfied, you may be able to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our services, information practices or legal obligations change. We will publish the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Where a change is material, we may provide additional notice through the platform or by email where appropriate.
